The New York Giants could be without their franchise quarterback again in Week 7. Signal caller and franchise cornerstone Daniel Jones remains on the mend heading into Sunday’s tilt with the Washington Commanders.

Jones left his team’s Week 5 contest against the Miami Dolphins with a neck injury. Although he avoided a significant injury, he has not practiced fully since landing on the injury report. Jones also hurt his neck in 2021, but the Duke product said on the “Up % Adams Show” earlier this month that this injury differs in severity and likeness. Jones has yet to get clearance for contact, and head coach Brian Daboli believes his quarterback is trending towards being unavailable in Week 7.
Daniel Jones: Inked a Multi-Year Contract with the New York Giants this Offseason
Daniel Jones, the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft, signed a four-year, $160 million contract with the New York Giants during the offseason. Jones is coming off his best season, throwing for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns against five picks. He also added 708 rushing yards and seven scores on the ground.
The six-foot-five dual-threat quarterback showed out in his first career playoff game, throwing for 301 yards and no interceptions against the Minnesota Vikings. However, he struggled in the next round, completing just 56% of his passes for no touchdowns and an interception. Daniel Jones has thrown just two touchdowns against six picks this season.
New York Giants: Quarterback Room
If Jones is unavailable, the New York Giants will turn to backup Tyrod Taylor. Taylor also got the nod in Week 6, going 24-of-36 for 200 yards without any scores or picks. He also ran the ball five times for 24 yards. The Virginia Tech product also played for the Giants in 2022 but threw just eight passes in two games.
Taylor has thrown 60 touchdowns against 26 picks in his NFL career. The New York Giants also have Tommy DeVito in the quarterback room. The rookie threw 15 touchdowns at Illinois last year. He would be the backup quarterback if Daniel Jones is out.
