Although there’s a good chance CeeDee Lamb stays with the Dallas Cowboys next season, nothing is set in stone at this point in time. If things don’t work out well for both parties, the New England Patriots may come in and be an ideal landing spot for the star wide receiver.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has expressed a lack of urgency in securing a contract extension for Lamb. The wide receiver, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, has not reported to training camp as he seeks a more lucrative contract.

Jones acknowledged that the team is getting great work and making real progress without Lamb, suggesting the Cowboys do not feel pressured to prioritize a deal. When asked if he can envision the season opener coming with Lamb absent, Jones said he does not know but that the team is progressing well in his absence.
Lamb, who led the NFL in receptions last season, is expected to command a high-value contract comparable to the recent record-breaking deal signed by Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. However, Jones expressed confidence in the Cowboys’ ability to develop their receiving corps, stating that the opportunity has been beneficial for the team’s younger, unproven players.
The situation remains a point of tension as the Cowboys aim to lock down one of their offensive cornerstones. Jones’ lack of urgency in addressing Lamb’s contract extension has been met with skepticism, as the wide receiver market continues to reset and Lamb’s value increases.
New England Patriots Acquire Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb From Dallas Cowboys in Intriguing Trade Proposal

If things don’t pan out between Lamb and the Cowboys, the Patriots should inquire about the availability of the former. In an article written by Maurice Moton for Bleacher Report, there’s a reason why New England should be interested in the wide receiver.
“The New England Patriots showed interest in acquiring Brandon Aiyuk, but according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, they have backed out of trade negotiations with the San Francisco 49ers.
Based on receiving numbers and accolades, Lamb, a three-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro, is a more accomplished receiver than Aiyuk, who doesn’t have a single Pro Bowl or first-team All-Pro campaign on his resume.
The Patriots should inquire about Lamb with the intent to go above and beyond to satisfy his contract demands. New England has $43.2 million in cap space and will have $78.3 million next year,” Moton said.
Just recently, New England won their first game without Bill Belichick as head coach in 24 years, defeating the Carolina Panthers 17-3 in a preseason matchup. Jerod Mayo, 38, has replaced Belichick as the Patriots’ new head coach.

Although the Patriots are far from competing for a Super Bowl anytime soon, having Lamb in a new situation might be better for him than playing in Dallas. It remains to be seen whether New England gets to shock the NFL by getting the wide receiver or if he opts to stay with the Cowboys in the end.
