New England Patriots: Is Jayden Daniels the Heir to Tom Brady’s Throne?

The New England Patriots 2023 season has finally come to an end and it was a disappointment to say the least. The Offense was absolutely atrocious and is in desperate need of a rebuild. Luckily for New England, they have landed the number three pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. This puts them in a prime position to select LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels finished an electric season at LSU by hoisting the Heisman trophy in early December, which wasn’t a surprise. Just turn on his tape for a couple plays and it is apparent how talented the star quarterback really is.  This is exactly what is needed in Foxborough to make the Patriots relevant once again.

After Tom Brady left New England in 2020, the Patriots have been mediocre at best. Until the 2023 season when 4 wins, no offense, and season ending injuries to star defensive players, completely sent New England off the rails. The quarterback play since Mac Jones’ stellar rookie season has also been rather ugly. Jayden Daniels could be the spark this offense so desperately needs. Daniels’ ability to create plays is what puts him in such high regards around the league. When the pocket breaks down he can scramble for a fifty yard touchdown, meaning teams will constantly need a quarterback spy. As soon as you think you have contained his running ability, he will start dropping dimes left and right. His arm talent is incredibly underrated and he has the capability to pick apart defenses. With an underperforming offensive line in New England, Daniels’ ability to make plays is going to serve him very well. Daniels is the quarterback Patriots fans have been begging for since the departure of Tom Brady.

Can Jayden Daniels Be The Future of the New England Patriots Franchise?

It is no secret that the Patriots organization is used to winning, With the help of Tom Brady they have been the most successful franchise in the history of the NFL. In order to get back to their winning ways, they need to nail the number three overall pick and attempt to fill the shoes of the greatest quarterback to ever walk the planet. Nobody will ever replicate what Brady accomplished in New England, but in order to give themselves a chance at competing again, the Patriots need a dynamic quarterback.

Jayden Daniels’ pro comparison recently has been none other than Lamar Jackson. Jackson is on track to win his second MVP award, after almost every team passed on him in the 2018 NFL Draft. Daniels is a dynamic runner just like Lamar, but I believe Daniels is more polished as a passer than Lamar was coming out in 2018. If the Patriots want to get back to their high level of excellence, they need to take a chance on the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner. By taking Daniels at the number three overall pick, the organization is showing the Foxborough Faithful that they have reason to be excited for the team again. With the right coaching, a great draft in April, and some big free agent signings in March, the New England Patriots can get back into the mix for the Lombardi Trophy.

This article really summed up my thoughts about the Patriots. They need a QB and weapons for him. Jayden Daniels might be that guy to turn the Patriots around and make them win once again.
