The New England Patriots’ first week of training camp is in the books, and they are now shifting their focus to Week 2. They will have open practices on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week. Once Week 2 finishes, the team will have four open practices remaining, including three in Week 3.
Unfortunately, the Patriots have not been able to avoid the injury bug in their first 1.5 weeks of practice.
The New England Patriots’ top CB exited Monday’s practice

Christian Gonzalez exited early in Monday’s practice with an apparent hamstring injury during a 1-on-1 drill against Stefon Diggs. As a result, he did not return to Monday’s practice and did not participate on Tuesday as well. The Patriots must proceed with caution since hamstring injuries are soft-tissue injuries that can linger for a long period of time, especially with the high risk of aggravation.
New England Patriots’ All-Pro out with injury

According to Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports, Christian Gonzalez’s hamstring injury will sideline him for a while, with no clear-cut timetable for return. However, his injury is not expected to impact his availability for Week 1, which is great news for the Patriots’ defense.

He is not the only CB injured

Carlton Davis III has missed the last four practice sessions with an undisclosed injury. Therefore, Alex Austin and Marcus Jones have taken first-team reps as the top two cornerbacks in their absence. Finally, Marcellas Dial Jr., Kobee Minor, Isaiah Bolden, and D.J. James will also see their practice reps increase throughout training camp.
