New England Patriots: 2025 Draft Prospect to Watch

The New England Patriots haven’t even taken a regular season snap yet, and it is already clear what their 2025 Draft plan should be. In their first three preseason games, one position has struggled much more than all the rest, offensive tackle. Many media personalities believe that rookie quarterback, Drake Maye, won the starting job over Jacoby Brissett, however, head coach Jerod Mayo has decided to start Brissett. One of the biggest reasons could be the struggles of the offensive line. Putting a rookie quarterback behind a line that will consistently get him sacked, will not be great for the development of Maye. Luckily for the Patriots, there will be an elite prospect at the tackle position in the 2025 NFL Draft, LSU’s Will Campbell.

Will Campbell could be the perfect pick for the Patriots in the 2025 Draft. They desperately need a left tackle to protect their franchise quarterback. Campbell is of great size at six-feet-six inches and is a spectacular athlete. Not only can he keep up with elite edge rushers in pass protection, but he can also pancake somebody on a run play. There are plenty of examples in his film last year of him showing off his nastiness on the field. Great linemen have that ability to flip the switch when they are in the trenches during game time, and that is something Campbell shows off regularly.

Many experts believe the Patriots will struggle this year, which is understandable. After going 4-13 in 2023, they made some changes to the roster, but they won’t be playing their biggest acquisition, and that is quarterback Drake Maye. Maye had a great preseason and showcased some incredible throws, as well as his elite athleticism. However, he remains on the bench, most likely due to the lack of protection from the current offensive line. By selecting Will Campbell in the 2025 Draft, the Patriots will allow Maye to get on the field and develop as the future of the franchise. Campbell could be just as important as Maye to the future in New England.

Will the Patriots have the Draft position to select Campbell?

Many people believe the Patriots will have another long, losing season in 2024. If they are correct there is a bright side to the losses. By enduring one more year of losing, it will put New England in the prime position to take Will Campbell. Some experts even think the Patriots could land the number one pick. Obviously, fans don’t want to see a terrible season, but since New England already has their quarterback, they could trade down from pick one for a huge haul, while still being able to select Campbell. Campbell is a projected top-ten pick, and New England will most likely be in that range. Therefore, even though fans don’t want losses, there could be a silver lining to another struggling season.
