Nebraska Cornhuskers, both current and future, could be seen working with known quarterback coach John Teigland, in a shared clip from Friday.
While it can be easy for some to criticize players for opting to explore their transfer portal options, it can be easy to forget how much effort players pour into a program. Circumstances change and situations evolve for all involved parties. Just like what we are seeing unfold with a possible Dylan Raiola commitment flip weekend. Raiola is an exciting talent, that would be a very welcomed player in the Nebraska Cornhuskers locker room. With this one great surprise addition, some feared of possibly losing out on another player.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Native Staying Put
There was a feeling that Daniel Kaelin would reconsider his visits to other schools when footage was released of him passing to Thomas Fidone, and high school teammate Dae’vonn Hall, who is also committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
This morning it was announced that the Bellevue West quarterback had cancelled his visit to Michigan State, and that he is remaining a solid Nebraska commit. According to the report by Sean Callahan from On3, Oregon and Florida were also interested in Kaelin’s services for their respective quarterback rooms. It is not surprising, as Kaelin was anticipating Raiola to attend Georgia in the fall, and when that appeared to no longer be the case, his talent warranted exploring other potential options to compete for the starting job elsewhere.
Not to single out how any other program conducts business, but an important note that was witnessed was how Matt Rhule addressed the developing quarterback recruitment process. Despite the well known interest between Nebraska and Raiola, Rhule made it clear to Kaelin that his offer would still stand and of course would be honored. It appears that Rhule and the staff kept honest communications open, and made a convincing case for Kaelin to stay and develop within their program.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Peer Recruiting Influence
One of the most well known aspects of Kaelin during his recruitment was his desire to bring others with him to be Nebraska Cornhuskers. He is someone that is willingly putting in effort to attract talent to the team. He seems to be exciting other prospects, and has done a good job of making the Nebraska Cornhuskers appear to be the best destination for their careers.
Kaelin is the second highest rated recruit from the state and did a great job, of making others want to joining him.
Take his teammate from the video, Dae’vonn Hall. The 4 star wide receiver played with Kaelin at Bellevue West and had attracted the attention of several schools. The same could also be said to Nebraska commit wide receiver Isaiah McMorris. It is clear that Kaelin is a well liked, and is a respected leader who inspires his peers to want to play him on the football field.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Number One Ranked Home Recruit
This ability of Kaelin was especially clear during the recruiting process for Carter Nelson. At a home volleyball game, the two could be seen, absorbing the atmosphere of the home crowd, and willing the Nebraska Cornhuskers to victory.
There are other examples of players that he has successfully influenced and persuaded to join forces with. The direct player recruitment of Nelson, the number one ranked recruit from the state just seems beautifully symbolic, for a program that had lost out on recruits from out-of-state schools in more recent history.
There is something captivating about Kaelin. His ability to connect with other players, and the energy and passion that he brings, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have lacked this in the past, and would already have a hard time replacing his presence impact within the program.
Kaelin’s scouting report says that he is a pass first, accurate quarterback who has good upside. Combined with his intangibles, and watching him putting in the work with his future teammates, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are very fortunate to have someone like him representing the program.
