NC State QB MJ Morris Enters Transfer Portal
Morris will enter the portal with three years of eligibility left. He began the season as the backup quarterback with plans to red shirt. However, head coach Dave Doeren wanted to give his team a spark in week 6 so he put in Morris. He was okay with burning his red shirt at the time but quickly changed his mind. After four weeks, he opted out of the rest of the season. He started a little bit last year meaning his career stats at NC State are a respectable 1,367 yards with 14 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Question For The Wolfpack
Morris is one of 12 players to enter the transfer portal. While this seems like a lot, this is the new college football landscape. Player movement is at an all-time high. If a player doesn’t think their situation is perfect, they will chase another opportunity. If the NIL deal isn’t great, players can look for other offers in the portal. It is something that all programs are having to navigate. This is going to test how quickly coaches can get players up to speed with so many new faces every year.
MJ Morris joins the slew of quarterbacks that are entering the transfer portal. It will be interesting to see whether they find better situations or in similar situations.
