The Minnesota Vikings are getting their 90-man roster set for the offseason. The Vikings need depth in several areas of he defense before the 2025 draft.

One area of need is at cornerback. Veteran cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Shaquill Griffin played for Minnesota in 2024 but are currently free agents.

Byron Murphy Jr, Isaiah Rodgers, and Tavierre Thomas are a good start for the unit. However, there are some concerns about Mekhi Blackmon, who is returning after suffering a torn ACL in July of 2024 that ended his season.

On Monday, the Vikings chose to part ways with a veteran cornerback they traded for during training camp last summer.

Per the league’s transaction wire, Minnesota waived Nahshon Wright.

The Dallas Cowboys traded Wright to the Vikings in exchange for cornerback Andrew Booth. Dallas selected Wright in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Vikings chose Booth in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys wound up releasing Booth in November.

Wright appeared in one game for Minnesota in 2024 during their Dec. 1 contest against the Arizona Cardinals. He recorded no defensive snaps but played in 15 total special teams snaps.

Wright played college football at Oregon State. The six-foot-four, 200-pound defensive back has appeared in 33 games and started three. He’s recorded 37 tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, and five passes defensed in his four-year NFL career.
