Fox College Football Friday Week 1: Arizona @ Kansas State
On Friday, September 9, the Arizona Wildcats will travel to Manhattan, Kansas, to open up the season against the Kansas State Wildcats.
The Arizona Wildcats will begin their first season of Big 12 play with a tough road matchup. Arizona is coming off their best season in almost a decade winning their first bowl game since 2015. However, head coach Jedd Fisch left to take the Washington head coaching job. This will be the first game in the Brent Brennan era, and a solid road win behind junior quarterback Noah Fifita could solidify the Wildcats as serious contenders in the conference.
The Kansas State Wildcats will enter their sixth season under head coach Chris Klieman. The Wildcats are the favorites to win the Big 12 this season and will look for their first College Football Playoff Birth. With the departure of Will Howard, Kansas State will also have a new quarterback under center in week 1, with Avery Johnson expected to be the starter.
We often don’t see games with playoff implications this early in the season, but with the new format, the winner of this game will have a head start in the Big 12 race.
Fox College Football Friday Week 9: Rutgers @ USC
On October 25, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights will travel to Los Angeles, California to face off against the USC Trojans at 11:00 pm eastern in a Week 9 Big 10 matchup.
USC will enter its first season of Big 10 play in 2024 in its third season under head coach Lincoln Riley. This time the Trojans will have a new quarterback under center in Miller Moss who was sensational in his bowl game start in 2023.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will look to build off their best season under head coach Greg Schiano. In 2023, Rutgers won their first bowl game since 2014. With star running back Kyle Monangai returning, the Scarlet Knights should be a tough out in the Big 10 once again.
Fox College Football Friday Week 14: Utah @ UCF
On November 29, the Utah Utes will travel to Orlando, Florida to take on the UCF Knights in the season finale. With both of these teams expected to be competitive in the Big 12, this game should have conference championship game implications, which could result in College Football Playoff implications.
Utah is looking to have a bounce-back year after their 2023 season was derailed by injuries. In the nineteenth season under Kyle Whittingham, the Utes will look to become conference champions in their third different conference under Whittingham. Redshirt Senior Cam Rising will be back under center for a squad that is always competitive.
Under Gus Malzahn, the UCF Knights look to continue the transition into the Big 12 by adding some more wins to the column in 2024. The Knights put up a 6-7 record in 2023 but were competitive throughout the season. The Knights bring back a lot of their offensive skill positions from a year ago and will add Arkansas transfer quarterback KJ Jefferson as their new leader under center.
