The Missouri Tigers are coming off a very successful season in the SEC and they are looking to do even better in 2024. They have landed some top players via the transfer portal but on Friday afternoon, their future at the quarterback position decided to test the waters elsewhere. Former four-star recruit Gabarri Johnson announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Missouri Tigers Lose QB Gabarri Johnson To The Transfer Portal
It isn’t necessarily a surprise to see Johnson transfer. Brady Cook will be the unquestioned starter going into 2024 and in this new college football landscape, there are plenty of opportunities for players to explore. Johnson will likely try and find a program where he can start right away and actually see the field. He red-shirted his first year so he still has four years of eligibility left.
2024 Outlook For The Tigers
Losing a young quarterback prospect definitely hurts but the Tigers are focused on making a run in the SEC next year. The good news for the Tigers is their schedule is fairly easy at least for SEC standards. They face a decimated Texas A&M team early but don’t see a real huge test until Auburn and Alabama in late October. From there, the Oklahoma Sooners are the scariest team left. It is not out of the question that if the Tigers can pull off a couple of upsets, they could be in the mix for the SEC title.
Can the Missouri Tigers actually make a run at the SEC? They have landed some good players in the portal themselves and are looking to challenge the elite of the conference.
