Mississippi State Football Hits New Low During Blowout MAC Loss to 2-0 Toledo Rockets

The Mississippi State football team has hit a new low for the program as the Toledo Rockets have blown out the Bulldogs in Starkville.

The Bulldogs looked unprepared on defense and could not manage to move the ball on offense against the Rockets defense. Mississippi State could not stop the Rockets through the air specifically, with Toledo doing whatever they wanted with the ball. The Rockets only came up with a handful of completions against an SEC defense, which is a feat the MAC previously did not see happening.

The Mississippi State football team appears to be in shambles as the MAC native Toledo Rockets have blown out the Bulldogs in Starkville. An area that was once coined ‘Starkvegas’ might be as dead as it ever has been as the Bulldogs look quite honestly terrible. The Bulldogs have struggled to do anything right, allowing over 20-points per game and nearly 400-yards combined.

While defense might be a glaring issue for the Bulldogs, it is general preparation that appears to be the biggest issue for the program. The Bulldogs look a step slow against the Rockets and looked the same during their loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils. The Bulldogs almost seem surprised by the fact that Toledo is looking to pass, when that has long been their gameplay.

The offensive line should also take some of the blame for the loss as the line has given quarterback Blake Shapen no time. Shapen is not the greatest quarterback by any means, but certainly can perform better than what he has done for the Bulldogs so far. While Mississippi State Bulldogs fans in the stands were angry, the fans on social media were also just as upset with the performance of the team.

The SEC commercials running after Mississippi State gives up another score to Toledo to go down 28 are hilarious, keep them coming

Mississippi State is a Weird Al song.
    Complete mockery of the game.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will face the Florida Gators, the #2 Texas Longhorns, and the #1 Georgia Bulldogs for the next three games on their schedule.

What Does the Loss Mean For the Mississippi State Bulldogs Moving Forward?

Moving forward, the Bulldogs need to find a way to prepare more thoroughly for their upcoming games. The MAC is known for attacking through the air, and was able to do just that with virtually no resistance against the Bulldogs. The Rockets were so successful through the air that they never quite gave the running game a real try as they did not need to.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs looked completely unprepared as they failed to stop the Rockets from doing exactly what they always do. Some air raid schools are very predictable, and the Rockets would be one of them as they are going to try to attack the middle of the field. The Bulldogs struggled to study their opponent in their last game as well during the 30-23 loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Arizona State is led by running back Cam Skattebo and loves to run the offense through the talented running back. Skattebo carried the ball 33 times for 262-yards against the Bulldogs as he sliced through the defense with incredible ease. The running back was always going to be the player the Sun Devils leaned on, and yet the Bulldogs still could not slow him down.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs need to reevaluate themselves from the base level as they move forward. The Bulldogs clearly are struggling to get themselves to a game-ready level, and until they do so, it will continue to be quite the bloodbath on the field in Starkville.
