The Minnesota Vikings will face off against the New York Jets in London this weekend. That means Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold will go on to face his former team, the team that drafted him with their first-round pick back in 2018. Darnold addressed the media from the TCO Performance Center on Wednesday to share his thoughts and preview the upcoming London game against the New York Jets on Sunday Morning.
Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold When Asked About The Team Will Prepare For The New York Jets, And Also The Time Change
When asked by the media how he’ll prepare for not only the Jets but for the time change as well Darnold had this to say:
“Yeah, I think, ya know to prepare against like I mentioned earlier just, a really good defense, they fly around, they know their scheme inside and out. They allow their guys to go out and play fast and play physical. I feel like they disquise really well, whether it’s disquising pressures, or disquising coverages, you can tell they’re really well coached and really smart.”
“And then yeah, just going over to London. Guys really liked their plan last year going over their, so I feel like we’ve got a really good plan our training staff has put together a solid plan for us traveling and making sure we’ve got everything we need to feel ready to go by Sunday.”
Sam Darnold When Asked How He Will Approach This Week Against The Team That Drafted Him
“Yeah I mean, I’m not really thinking about that to be honest. Ya know, a lot of new faces over there, still know a few players over there, but im sure before the game maybe after the game seeing some of the people i’ve build really good relationships with, that’s always the fun part about this league being able to see people you’ve worked with in the past and just continue to build those relationships or keep those relationships.”
“It’ll be good to see those guys, but other than that pretty new defense since i’ve been their and a lot of new players.”
That’s a very kind, respectful, and humble response from Darnold, but you can’t help but wonder if deep down he has something to prove against his former team, especially with the performance he’s been having with the Minnesota Vikings. Or maybe he doesn’t care and his time with the Jets has passed with no hard feelings. when asked if he thinks the New York Jets failed him in any way he responded with this:
“Umm, nah I think, ya know I had a lot of opportunities in New York, and i’ve always felt that I could have played better there.”
Has Sam Darnold Established Himself As A Solid Starter In This League
This is true, Sam Darnold has never really shown people that he was a star until now. During his time in New York, like he said he could have played better. I’m sure he feels similar about his time in Carolina, or in San Francisco, but he’s shining now with the Minnesota Vikings and that’s all that matters, and Sunday we’ll find out how far he’s truly come since coming into the league.
Has Samual Richard Darnold finally established himself as a starting quarterback in this league? So far so good, but we still have 13 more games to go to truly find out if Sam Darnold has finally found his place in the NFL.
