The Minnesota Vikings are going into the 2024 season looking to defy all the odds. Their off-season thus far has been filled with off the field controversy, injuries, and their franchise quarterback leaving in free agency somewhat unexpectedly.
However, today it was announced that the Vikings are making an addition on offense, one they hope is a diamond in the rough.
The Minnesota Vikings Sign Former Las Vegas Raiders Weapon
According to the Vikings official website:
Minnesota signed receiver Justin Hall, who entered the NFL in 2022 by signing as an undrafted free agent with the Raiders. He spent that training camp with Las Vegas until the end of August 2022 when he was released during roster reductions.
To make room for Gilmore and Hall on the roster, Minnesota waived punter Seth Vernon and receiver Ty James. Vernon had been competing against third-year pro Ryan Wright. James joined Minnesota this spring as an undrafted free agent.
Here is a look at Hall’s draft breakdown back in 2022:
Hall was one of the most dynamic receivers in college football at Ball State. Playing out wide or coming out of the backfield, he was a dual-threat offensive weapon who could make defenders miss and, occasionally, run them over if he was close to the end zone.
Listed on Ball State’s roster at 5-foot-9, 186 pounds, Hall is smaller than a typical NFL receiver. There are other undersized receivers in the league and Hall believes he’s shown — both on film and throughout the draft process — he can also be a valuable asset to an NFL organization.
He’s missed some games due to injury in his collegiate career, most notably both of Ball State’s bowl games — a 2020 Arizona Bowl win and a 2021 Camellia Bowl loss — but he said, in these past few months, he’s learned to be more proactive rather than reactive when it comes to injuries. In Ball State’s 2020 MAC Championship win over Buffalo, Hall had 100 offensive yards and a receiving TD.
It will be interesting to see if the Vikings can find another weapon for this Sam Darnold led offense in 2024.
