The Minnesota Vikings will be facing the Los Angeles Rams on the road in the first round of the NFL playoffs on Monday night. The Vikings had a 14-3 record, but they did not win the NFC North because the Detroit Lions finished with a 15-2 record.
Nick Mullens and Brett Rypien have been the backup quarterbacks for Sam Darnold. Daniel Jones has been on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad ever since being released by the New York Giants.
Daniel Jones Activated To Minnesota Vikings 53-Man Roster
On Tuesday, it was announced that the Vikings have decided to sign Daniel Jones to the active 53-man roster and have also decided to waive quarterback Brett Rypien. It will be interesting to see if Jones will be the second or third quarterback on Minnesota’s depth chart on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams.
This is an interesting decision by the Vikings front office, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, and head coach Kevin O’Connell. Minnesota has been one of the biggest stories this season in the NFL.

A lot of Minnesota Vikings fans thought that before the start of the season, J.J. McCarthy was going to give Sam Darnold competition before McCarthy tore his meniscus. Now, who would have thought Daniel Jones would be on the Vikings roster for the playoffs before this season started? The Vikings are doing this because in case Jones signs elsewhere next season, they would get a compensatory pick for it.
