The Miami Dolphins announced they signed a former Cleveland Browns wide receiver to their 90-man roster. They had to cut an offensive lineman to make the roster move. The Dolphins needed to add a wide receiver as Jaylen Waddle deals with an undisclosed injury during training camp.
Jaylen Waddle is dealing with an undisclosed injury
Per David Furones with the Sun Sentinel, Waddle has missed two practices this week due to injury. In an update on Wednesday, head coach Mike McDaniel said the injury is minor but refused to go into specifics about the nature of the injury:
“Minor stuff,” Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said heading into Wednesday’s second joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons.
Waddle, who signed a three-year contract extension with two seasons still remaining on his rookie deal, has already stood out — even for his standards — during Dolphins camp. However, he has recently been sidelined with an undisclosed injury.
The Miami Dolphins signed Mike Harley Jr.
The injury might be minor, but the Dolphins are adding another wide receiver as Waddle misses practice. The team added veteran Willie Snead IV last week. On Wednesday, the Dolphins announced they signed Mike Harley Jr.:
Harley Jr. entered the NFL in 2022 as an undrafted [rookie] free agent with Cleveland. He spent the 2022 season on Cleveland’s practice squad and participated in two training camps with the Browns (2022, 2023). He played collegiately at the University of Miami, appearing in 60 career games in five seasons (2017-21). Harley Jr. recorded 182 receptions for 2,158 yards and 15 touchdowns during his time in Coral Gables.
The Dolphins announced they released offensive lineman Chasen Hines to add Harley. The New England Patriots 2022 sixth-round pick spent the 2023 season on the Dolphins practice squad. He was elevated for one game last season but did not appear in a game.
