The San Francisco 49ers appear interested in adding to their wide receiver room in the future ahead of their Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams. The team visited with a rookie UDFA who would have been a Day 2 draft pick if not for a tragic accident.
The 49ers have seen a few wide injuries at wide receiver since training camp started. The 49ers placed Danny Gray on injured reserve to start the season due to a shoulder injury. Ray-Ray McCloud is dealing with a broken wrist he sustained in training camp.

According to Steve Gardner of USA Today, Jefferson was expected to be a Day 2 or Day 3 draft pick before he was involved in a fatal head-on traffic collision before the draft. Jefferson had to undergo surgeries due to the injuries he suffered in the crash. He is expected to be out the entire 2023 season.
It’s unclear if Jefferson will be able to return to the football field sooner than 2024 or if the 49ers front office wanted to get familiar with Jefferson before next spring with the visit they had this week.
