Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill has been in the NFL for eight years now, and throughout that span, he has been a Pro Bowler every year. With that, he has officially cemented his place in the annals of American football history.
On Wednesday, the final list of Pro Bowl selections were announced. Unsurprisingly, Hill made it as a starter and top player in the wide receiver position for the AFC Roster. With the selection, the Dolphins star also became the only wideout ever to be named as a Pro Bowler in his first eight seasons in the league.
Yes, that’s right. No wide out in the history of the NFL has been voted into the Pro Bowl from their rookie season up to their eight year in the league straight.
“Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is now the first WR in NFL history to make the Pro Bowl in each of his first 8 seasons in the league,” ESPN reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques wrote on X (formerly Twitter) right after the announcement of the rosters.
It’s certainly a rather insane achievement, and it speaks volumes on the consistent excellence and greatness that Hill has played with ever since he stepped foot in the pros.
As mentioned, though, it isn’t a surprise that Tyreek Hill made it to the Pro Bowl this 2023. He has been the most important weapon on the Miami Dolphins roster, with many even convinced that he’s the reason why they have been so good offensively.
In fact, when he had to leave their game against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14 and the Miami offense struggled as a result, Tua Tagovailoa and the rest of the team were criticized heavily. The Dolphins faithful blasted the team for being too reliant on Hill, adding that they were not good without him.
While the criticisms were harsh, it drives home the point that Hill has been a key cog for the Dolphins’ offense.
Hill is currently the NFL leader in receiving yards with 1717 and receiving touchdowns with 12. He is just 248 yards away from setting the single-season receiving yards record and breaking the 1964 yards Calvin Johnson set in 2012. Depending on how he performs in Week 18, he could very well set a new milestone.
Miami Dolphins’ Pro Bowlers Aside From Tyreek Hill
The Miami Dolphins are one of the best teams in the NFL this 2023 season, so it’s not a surprise why a lot of their players were selected to the Pro Bowl for the AFC.
Tua Tagovailoa, for one, has been voted into the annual event as well and will be starting alongside Tyreek Hill. Fullback Alec Ingold, running back Raheem Mostert, cornerback Jalen Ramsey and offensive tackle Terron Armstead will be heading to Orlando, Florida on February 4 for the all-star showcase.
Interestingly, it’s the first time since 2002 that six Dolphins players were selected as Pro Bowlers, per ESPN. It’s also the first since 1984 that at least five offensive players from the franchise were voted for the event.
Indeed, it’s a great time to be a Dolphins fan.
