Tyreek Hill wants a new contract from the Miami Dolphins, but there is apparently a bridge he isn’t willing to cross to try to get one.
Hill has seen the wide receiver market explode this offseason, on the heels of his prolific 1,800-yards from scrimmage outburst in 2023, but had a clear message for his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, when it came to negotiations with the Dolphins.
“Obviously, I let [my agent] Drew [Rosenhaus] and the team handle that and that situation,” Hill said, via Safid Deen of USA Today. “The only thing I told Drew [was], ‘Do not get me traded, bro. Last time you did this, you got me traded.’
Hill is referencing getting dealt away from Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in March of 2022, but has certainly had a soft landing in South Beach as Tua Tagovailoa’s most explosive weapon.
Across the past two seasons, Hill has accounted for 3,509 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns while bolstering his reputation as one of the game’s most prolific and game-altering weapons.
“That’s been my only thing to him,” Hill explained. “I’m like — I want to stay here in Miami, man. Obviously, this is where family is now. Everybody loves it here — family loves it, wife loves it, kids love it. So, obviously I love it. I love playing for coach and my teammates are awesome. So, I wouldn’t want to leave, man.”
Tyreek Hill Miami Dolphins Contract Details
Hill signed a four-year contract extension upon being dealt to the Dolphins, but there is a potential out following the 2025 campaign.
If Hill plays out this season on his current deal, he’d be set to count $31.23 million against the cap this upcoming season while scheduled to collect upwards of $100.7 million over the next three seasons.
As the 2024 season looms, Hill is currently the fourth-highest-paid receiver (by AAV), at $30 million.
After watching Justin Jefferson, A.J. Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and DeVonta Smith reset the receiver market this offseason, it isn’t surprising to see Hill want to close the gap on some of the highest-paid players at the position across the sport.
