The 2025 NFL free agency market is about to open and the Miami Dolphins will look to make a move or two as they look to get back into playoff contention.
Mike McDaniel and company are not happy with how the 2024 season went. It was very obvious that there is more work for the front office to do when it comes to the roster.
One area that the Dolphins have to be better in is rushing the passer. Miami needs to figure out a way to get to the quarterback more often. There are quite a few options to choose from to pursue that goal.
With that being said, it sounds like the team has its sights set on one player in particular.
Ahead of NFL free agency, the Los Angeles Chargers made the decision to cut longtime star pass rusher Joey Bosa. It was a tough move to make, but a necessary one.
Bosa being available has added another option for teams who need pass rushers. For the Dolphins, it could offer them a perfect opportunity for improvement.
NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic has reported that while the San Francisco 49ers have mutual interest with Bosa, Miami is still planning to pursue him.
“While the idea of playing with his brother Nick in San Francisco appeals to Joey Bosa, he is expected to garner strong interest from the Dolphins, per source,” Russini wrote on X. “Miami ranked 27th in the league in sacks in 2024.”
During the 2024 NFL season with the Chargers, Bosa ended up playing in 14 games. He recorded 22 tackles, five sacks, and two forced fumbles.
While Bosa is a big name, he hasn’t tallied double-digit sacks since the 2021 season. He could be a help for a team like the Dolphins, but he’s not a superstar anymore.
Miami’s interest should hinge on the price tag. There should be no interest in overspending to land Bosa at this point in his career.
Expect to hear more about Bosa in the near future. For now, the Dolphins are a team to keep an eye on.
