Miami Dolphins: Bradley Chubb Identifies Team’s ‘Lie’ in 2024

Coming off an 11-win season in 2023, the Miami Dolphins had many expecting them to take their game to the next level in the 2024 NFL campaign. Instead, the Dolphins went 8-9 and missed the playoffs. That was a step back for Miami, which had won 20 games in the first two seasons under Mike McDaniel.

Miami defensive end Bradley Chubb also missed the entire 2024 season, but that did not stop him from sharing his blunt observation about what the team lacked.

“I’m going to say last year, we were lying, honestly,” Chubb said (h/t Grant Gordon of NFL.com). “Point blank, period. We felt it. We put our toe in the water, but we didn’t dive all the way in. We didn’t get all the way there with each other. We weren’t making the effort to go  the extra mile and I would say this year, we’re doing that.”

With Chubb ready to give it a go again after dealing with a serious lower-body injury, he will look to help improve things further for Miami, particularly the team’s defense which was just 27th in the league in 2024 with a 5.77 percent defensive sack rate.

Chubb, who renegotiated his contract in the offseason with the Dolphins, is starting to work again on the field, as he prepares for his NFL comeback.

“It was cool, man,” the two-time Pro Bowl defensive end said about getting the orange jersey for an excellent practice session this week (h/t James Trefry of Dolphins Wire).

It was dope, just to see all the work come to light. Still got a long way to go in terms of perfecting my craft but working towards it each and every day. Putting my head down, getting the work in and to see that get acknowledged was dope,” Chubb said.

A first-round pick (fifth overall) by the Denver Broncos in the 2018 NFL draft, Chubb has 39.5 sacks and 157 solo tackles to go with 13 forced fumbles and 92 quarterback hits in 73 games in the NFL, thus far.
