LSU had some heartbreaking news to announce on Sunday morning.  Wide receiver Kyren Lacy was found deceased in Houston just weeks before the 2025 NFL Draft.  Lacy was just a few days away from appearing in court on his negligent homicide accusation.

Now, we are seeing some of his final text messages released.

In the wake of Lacy’s death, Detroit Lions cornerback Amik Robertson took to social media with a number of tributes. Louisiana natives, both of them were from Thibodaux:

NFL star Amik Robertson has shared some of the final messages he exchanged with Lacy

‘Take your rest lil bro,’ Robertson wrote on social media, alongside a number of pictures of them together.

Robertson also shared a screenshot of text messages he had exchanged with Lacy over recent months.

It showed that Robertson reached out to the college star around the time he was arrested by police.

‘I need you to trust the process and put it in God’s hands,’ he told Lacy. ‘I know this is a tough time but my faith (is) high. I don’t know what happened cause I don’t want to get into that.

‘But if you are in the wrong everyone makes mistakes. It’s all a learning process. Keep faith brodie… I’m always here, right or wrong.’

Robertson followed up his message with a now-poignant request: ‘Promise me to keep yo head on bro that’s all I ask. Don’t get discouraged by nothing.’

Lacy responded with a heart emoji and the message ‘I promise big bro!! We gone (sic) talk in person!’

A few months later, on March 26 – the same day Lacy took part in the LSU pro day – the receiver sent a text to Robertson which suggested they had spoken.

‘Appreciate dat bro needed to hear dat!!’ Lacy wrote. ‘They gone (sic) feel us!’

But on Sunday morning, it was reported that Lacy was found dead Saturday night in Houston.

Lacy had declared for this month’s NFL draft but his stock plummeted after his alleged involvement in the fatal accident.

Lacy was accused of driving recklessly – speeding and passing in a no-passing zone – when a motorist who was swerving to avoid Lacy´s Dodge Charger crashed head-on into another vehicle.

Herman Hall was involved in a head-on crash and died after being taken to the hospital, a police report said. Lacy was accused of fleeing the scene without calling for help.

But, following the 24-year-old’s death, Lacy’s attorney released a stunning statement accusing the authorities of a ‘witch hunt’.

‘Kyren’s was scheduled to have his matter heard before a grand jury tomorrow (Monday) wherein we were very confident the evidence, after being fully collected and reviewed, would lead to a declination of charges,’ they said.
