The Los Angeles Chargers have had to play musical chairs with their wide receiver room this season, and it won’t change when they visit the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The Chargers head into the weekend with two receivers on the injury report. Star receiver Keenan Allen and five-year NFL vet Jalen Guyton are questionable ahead of Sunday’s game.
Los Angeles Chargers: Activate Terrell Bynum and Alex Erickson
The Chargers will have two new faces suited up on Sunday. Rookie wideout Terrell Bynum had five catches for 60 yards in three preseason games and will have a chance to make his NFL regular season debut in Week 11. He played collegiately in the Pac-12, spending three seasons with the Washington Huskies before transferring to USC. He finished college with 81 receptions, 1,093 yards, and seven touchdowns.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Alex Erickson could make his season debut on Sunday. The longtime Cincinnati Bengal caught nine passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason. Erickson joined the NFL in 2016 as both a returner and receiver. His best season came in 2019, catching a career-high 43 passes for 529 yards. The Wisconsin product also led the league in kick return yards as a rookie.
The Health of the Los Angeles Chargers Receiver Room
The Los Angeles Chargers have had significant injuries to their receiving core this season. Starting wideout Mike Williams was lost for the season in late September with a torn ACL, while Joshua Palmer is on the injured reserve (IR) with no timetable for return.
The Chargers also have two receivers questionable for Sunday. Five-time Pro-Bowler Keenan Allen is nursing a shoulder injury heading into the weekend, while Jalen Guyton picked up a groin injury in practice. Allen is the team leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Meanwhile, Guyton had four catches for 41 yards and a score last Sunday. Alex Erickson and Terrell Bynum could play if the status of Allen or Guyton changes.
