Lincoln Riley has not been happy about how the 2023 season has gone. While the team has Caleb Williams under center, the team is a mediocre 7-5 on the season. They haven’t been able to beat any of the top teams and have feasted on inferior teams. After the loss to UCLA, former SEC coach Dan Mullen questioned whether Riley could be on the hot seat.
Are we sure that they have the right coach on the hot seat in LA.

Dan Mullen Blasts Lincoln Riley On Social Media
Chip Kelly has been on the hot seat for UCLA but Mullen thinks that the wrong coach is on the hot seat. “Are we sure that they have the right coach on the hot seat in LA” Mullen wrote on social media. It isn’t a question that is out of left field. USC paid Riley a boatload of money to leave Oklahoma. The hope was that Riley could lead the program to a college football playoff. In the first couple of seasons, Riley has failed to win the conference let alone be in the playoff conversation.

Doubt Anything Will Happen
USC isn’t moving on from Riley quite yet. The move to the Big Ten will usher in a new era for the program. If Riley cannot have success in the Big Ten, his seat will likely become warmer. However, the program shouldn’t make a move prior to this. The team still had a winning record and fired their defensive coordinator midseason. While it is disappointing, the Trojans want some stability going into 2024.

Lincoln Riley is trying to return the Trojans to prominence. Getting to the Big Ten should help with games against some of the nation’s top programs.
