Entering the NFL offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders have quite a few needs to focus on. Obviously, there is one need that stands out above the rest.
The Raiders badly need to bring in an upgrade at the quarterback position.
Looking at the available options, Las Vegas should be able to land one. Whether they get their quarterback in free agency, the 2025 NFL Draft, or even trading for one, there is no shortage of potential quarterback options.
All of that being said, the Las Vegas Raiders have been urged to make one massive move at the quarterback position.
Las Vegas Raiders Urged to Make Massive Quarterback Move in 2025 Free Agency
The 33rd Team recently took a look at one free agent each team should sign. When it came to the Raiders, they boldly stated that Sam Darnold is the clear choice and projected him on a three-year, $124 million contract.
“Picking at No. 6, it seems unlikely that the Las Vegas Raiders will land Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. However. with Pete Carroll signed on as the next head coach, it sure doesn’t feel like he’ll want to develop a quarterback anyway. Sam Darnold is coming off the best season of his career and is only 27,” they wrote.
“The Raiders will need to surround him with top-end talent as the Vikings did, but that shouldn’t be too hard with Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers already on the roster. Darnold isn’t the perfect solution for Las Vegas, but he gives them a respectable quarterback in a division with Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Bo Nix.”
Darnold is coming off of a big-time season with the Minnesota Vikings. However, there are concerns about his ability to keep playing at the level that he showed outside of the Vikings’ offense.
Despite those concerns, the Las Vegas Raiders need to make a move. Darnold is among the best possible gambles that they could take.
In 2024 with Minnesota, Darnold ended up playing in all 17 games. He completed 66.2 percent of his pass attempts for 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also picked up 212 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
At 27 years old, Darnold still has the potential to be a long-term quarterback option for whoever signs him.
It will be interesting to see what the Las Vegas Raiders end up choosing to do. Darnold is worth keep a very close eye on.
