Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson remained stubborn during a press conference he gave this week at mandatory OTAs. The 2023 NFL MVP was asked about a consequence he suffered for missing the start of OTAs this spring.
Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson lost $750,000 bonus
Jackson showed up for mandatory minicamp but wasn’t present at the voluntary portion of OTAs. As previously discussed on GH, he forfeited a large sum of money for his absence:
Mike Florio with NBC Sports, who speculated Jackson might be “miffed” the Ravens’ front office for procrastinating on his extension, is reporting the two-time NFL MVP will lose out on $750,000 for not appearing at voluntary OTAs this offseason:
To qualify [for the workout bonus], he must participate in 80 percent of the offseason workouts, excluding mandatory minicamp. He has already missed too many workouts, we’re told, to earn the $750,000 this year.
The annual $750,000 payment were initially believed to be offseason roster bonuses. That is not the case; they are workout bonuses. Failure to earn the bonus drops his 2024 compensation from $32.5 million to $31.75 million.
Jackson gave a stubborn answer about the money
Per Jamison Hensley with ESPN, Jackson was asked about the bonus and his absence. Jackson gave a stubborn answer:
Asked why he forfeited a $750,000 workout bonus this spring, Jackson replied, “I never discuss my contract up here. I’m not about to start today…
“I’m focusing on just getting better and focusing on tomorrow,” Jackson said. “We just had a great practice. We’re just trying to keep it going. Then, when [training] camp comes, camp is going to come.”
Jackson wants to build chemistry with his WRs this summer
Per Hensley, Jackson had an up-and-down performance at mandatory minicamp. Jackson, who was willing to forgo three-fourths of $1 million to miss voluntary OTAs, said he would like to build chemistry with his wide receivers in Florida, but he’s not sure they’re willing to do it:
I would love to do that, but some guys don’t want to leave their state,” Jackson said. “They’re going to have to come to South Florida. They’re going to have to do it. We have to. We’re trying to get to the Super Bowl, and for us to do that, we have to grind. We have to build chemistry.”
One has to wonder if those wide receivers wish Jackson had been in Baltimore for more practices this spring.

Shut up dork, nobody cares about your fluff peice to discredit the MVP of the league. He was there for some of the OTAs by the way. You’re welcome for your only comment.
Thank you for saying what we are all thinking
If its voluntary how can he lose out on money?
I’m wondering if he didn’t want to make media look more unreliable. On sportrac his contract shows his 2024 workout bonus was guaranteed at signing and treated as a signing bonus when he signed.
Massive? That’s a drop in the bucket for him.
Lamah don’t care
Article paints a narrative when Lamar had a smile on his face during this. I’m guessing the author used to think he should be a running back or is a rival AFCN fan
I think he wants to be traded but he’s scared to say it
Hahahahahaha….who cares….
