Lamar Jackson defends not playing in playoff game
Lamar Jackson is in the middle of a pretty nasty public standoff with the Baltimore Ravens regarding a long-term extension. Jackson, who has no agent representing him, asked for a trade in early March. The Ravens applied a non-exclusive franchise tag on him a few days later. Jackson recently has taken to social media to document his request for a trade and to defend his reputation for missing the Ravens Wild Card round game this past postseason.

The 2019 NFL MVP suffered a PCL injury in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos. Jackson has heard allegations he chose not to play the rest of the season and postseason because he didn’t want to take the chance of hurting himself in contract negotiations this offseason. Jackson took to Twitter Tuesday night to clear any confusion as to why he did not play against the Cincinnati Bengals in their playoff game in January:
“I don’t remember me sitting out on my guys week 1 vs jets To week 12 vs Broncos. How come all of a sudden I sit out because of money in which I could’ve got hurt at anytime within that time frame When we know the Super Bowl been on my mind since April 2018.
Let’s get real. I rather have a 100% PCL than go out there and play horrible forcing myself to put my guys in a bad situation now that’s selfish to me.”

There will likely be more drama to come out before Jackson is signed to a long-term contract.
