Nebraska takes on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in their final non-conference matchup before starting conference play against Michigan.
This will be the Huskers and Bulldogs third matchup in both schools’ history. The Huskers will look to add another win before their huge matchup over the Wolverines in week five.
2022 Season Review
Like Northern Illinois, Louisiana Tech went 3-9 last season. 2022 was a tough year for then first-year Head Coach Sonny Crumbie.
Crumbie’s offense had a rough 2022, scoring 27 points or less in seven of the nine losses they had last season. Defensively was worse. The Bulldogs allowed 469 yards and 38 points per game as a whole.

2023 Season Preview
Louisiana Tech will look to improve as a whole. On offense, the Bulldogs return eight starters and bring in transfer quarterback Hank Bachimeier from Boise State. With that in mind, the offense should be able to improve from last year and help stay in games.
Defensively, they only return four starters from last season. Defensive Coordinator Scott Power runs a pressure defense that only accumulated 16 sacks last season. Power will look to improve that.
The 2023 schedule should be easier than last year and the Bulldogs should be more improved all around.

Matchup Preview
This week four matchup is the third matchup between the two in history. The last time the Cornhuskers hosted the Bulldogs was in 2006, where Nebraska dominated 49-10.
An interesting story-line for this game is with former Nebraska wide receiver DeColdest Crawford. Crawford transferred out of Nebraska in the off-season and is returning back to Lincoln on the other side.
ESPN’s FPI favors Nebraska with 84.6% chance to win compared to Louisiana Tech’s 15.4%.
Can the Bulldogs catch the Cornhuskers looking too far ahead or will Nebraska get a dominating win before their massive matchup with Michigan? We will find out Sept. 23 in Lincoln with kickoff time yet to be determined.
