Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins recently gave an honest statement about his history with two teams he has been a part of. One analyst, in response, gave his reaction to Cousins’ recent statement.

In a recent episode of his program “3 and Out,” analyst John Middlekauff gave his take on Kirk Cousins recently getting honest about his feelings on his move from Minnesota to Atlanta.
“Kirk, they offered you $90 million. No one blames you for taking that money,” Middlekauff said. “I’ve been saying this forever, when the Atlanta Falcons signed Cousins, they did not have the intention of drafting Michael Penix Jr. No. 8 overall. They did not. They fell in love with Cousins, ’cause mid-March, free agency starts, they sign Cousins. Then they fell in love with Penix over the next four, five weeks.”
In the second season of the Netflix docu-series “Quarterback,” Kirk Cousins opened up about feeling “a little misled” by the Atlanta Falcons after they drafted quarterback Michael Penix Jr. just weeks after signing Cousins to a four-year, $180 million contract in March of that year.
This move, back then, also puzzled analysts and fans alike, with people noting how the move makes very little sense.

Despite his success, the Vikings began to shift toward a younger roster and were reluctant to offer Cousins a long-term extension, especially after he suffered a torn Achilles during the second half of the 2023 season. He later admitted that the “year-to-year” approach made him feel uncertain about his future with the Vikings.
Kirk Cousins Gives an Honest Interview For Netflix Series “Quarterbacks”
In the new season of the Netflix docu-series “Quarterback,” Kirk Cousins offered a candid perspective on his career history, particularly his transition from the Minnesota Vikings to the Atlanta Falcons.
In an interview, Cousins opened up about feeling blindsided when the Falcons signed another quarterback, Michael Penix Jr., only weeks after signing him.
“Certainly, if I had the information around free agency, it certainly would’ve affected my decision,” Cousins said on the season’s first episode. “I had no reason to leave Minnesota with how much we loved it there if both teams are going to be drafting a quarterback high. But I’ve also learned in 12 years in this league that you’re not entitled to anything. It’s all about being able to earn your spot and prove yourself.”

Kirk Cousins spent six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, where he became one of the franchise’s most consistent and productive quarterbacks. During his time with the Vikings, he threw for over 30,000 yards and earned multiple Pro Bowl selections, and led the Vikings to several playoff appearances.
