Keyshawn Johnson, former New York Jets wide receiver, is lately making news about the lawsuit he has slapped on sports agent Chris Ellison. According to a report by TMZ, Johnson is demanding a sum of $962,335 from Ellison, alleging that the agent has not paid him his finder’s fee for scouting Romeo Doubs, wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers, Mike Hughest, cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons, Jaylon Johnson, cornerback for the Chicago Bears, and Deommodore Lenoir, cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers.
Johnson has been still in touch with his beloved sport, even after retiring from the NFL. Keyshawn Johnson played in the league from 1996 to 2006 for several teams, starting with the New York Jets. Johnson was selected by the Jets as the first pick in the very first round of the 1996 NFL draft. Before the league, the talented wide receiver played college football for the USC Trojans.
“In return for this player identification, recruitment, and eventual entry into the highest level of the game of football, Defendant promised to pay Plaintiff a specific percentage of the player’s signed contract with the NFL. Each year, Defendant promised to pay Plaintiff one-third of the (3%) three percent commission Defendant made on each of the players’ salary. For several months, Defendant claimed he had not received any payments for the NFL’s recruitment of the players he represents. It is our reasonable belief that this is false.” the lawsuit filed by Keyshawn Johnson against sports agent, Chris Ellison, states.
After retiring from playing professionally, Keyshawn Johnson has been co-hosting ‘Speak’ on Fox Sports as a sports analyst. He is also involved in coaching and developing young and upcoming football players.
