The Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills will face off in the AFC Championship Game this weekend, with a trip to Super Bowl LIX on the line. Buffalo, of course, is trying to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since they made it to and lost four consecutive title games between 1991 and 1994.
Kansas City, meanwhile, is on a quest to become the first team since the Green Bay Packers to win three consecutive titles, and the first in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls.
The Kansas City Chiefs Have Often Been Accused of Cheating
All season long, Kansas City has found a way to win, despite the fact that star quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a down year and multiple offensive weapons ended up missing most, or all, of the season due to injury.
Indeed, the Chiefs ranked just 17th in total yards per game on offense (327.6) and 16th in points per game (22.6). In fact, there was only one game in which they scored 30 points all year.
Yet, they kept on winning, finishing the year 15-2 and with the top seed in the AFC. This led many fans, including hip hop artist Lil’ Wayne, to accuse the team and the NFL of cheating.
“I hate the cheating azz chiefs,” he posted on X during their win over the Baltimore Ravens last weekend. “It’s not even impressive when u cheat and then clearly try to cheat. Just win baby,” he said in a follow up post.
Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce Responds to Lil’ Wayne
Kelce’s brother Jason, the legendary Philadelphia Eagles center, brought up Lil’ Wayne’s social media posts on their show “New Heights.”
“The whole world was talking about something else during the game, and I’m sure you saw some of this, but they were complaining about the refs again, Trav. Even Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne [posting on social media]: I hate the cheating azz Chiefs. So an a** with two z’s.”
The All-Pro tight end, however, was not about to get into a battle of words with the Grammy Award winning artist.
“Shoutout to Tunechi, man,” was all he had to say on the topic.
Obviously, there will always be fans of other teams that will accuse the Chiefs of cheating, and of the NFL for rigging the system for them. However, it is incredibly hard to win in this league, and while Kansas City has received favorable calls, so have many other teams.
At the end of the day, the best team always stands on top, and the last two years has seen Kansas City on top.
