The Kansas City Chiefs, over the last several seasons, have been able to be one of the best teams in the NFL without having a bonified number one wide receiver. Of course, the fact that they have future Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce has lessened the need for a top-tier wideout. With that being said, quarterback Patrick Mahomes has the led the offense to high levels of success without the stereotypical number one wide receiver.
Instead, the Chiefs have found high levels of success with the likes of Mecole Hardman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and (to a far less degree) Kadarius Toney.
The thing that all three of these aforementioned wide receivers have in common is that none of them play for Kansas City anymore.
The Kansas City Chiefs Have Cycled Through Mediocre-to-Bad Wide Receivers

Hardman, who won three Super Bowls with the Chiefs, signed a one-year contract with the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay lost wide receiver Christian Watson to a torn ACL in Week 18 and, obviously, will not have him to start the season. Furthermore, their All-Pro kick returner, Keisean Nixon, is no longer interested in returning kicks, something that Hardman did early in his career.
MVS was released by Kansas City after they won Super Bowl LVIII and spent 2024 with the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints. Earlier this offseason, he signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.
While Hardman and MVS are continuing their NFL careers after their days in Kansas City, Toney is taking a different route.
Former Kansas City Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney Has Retired from the NFL to Be a Rapper

Toney, of course, was a former first round pick of the New York Giants. However, he never reached his potential in New York and was traded to the Chiefs midway through the 2021 season.
Again, though, Toney never lived up to his potential. His time in Kansas City was marred with dropped passes and incomprehensible penalties that left many fans scratching their heads.
Toney spent the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns, but appeared in just three games and recorded no catches. He was targeted just once.
This year, the former first round pick and Super Bowl Champion will not be playing in the NFL at all. Instead, he has embarked on a new career in music:

Toney ends his NFL career with just 82 receptions for 760 yards and three touchdowns in four seasons.
Hopefully he finds more success in music than he did on the gridiron.
