Justin Fields, New York Jets quarterback and Aaron Rodgers’ replacement, was recently praised by wide receiver Garrett Wilson after the team’s recent OTAs. Fields will be the new starting quarterback for the Jets in the upcoming NFL season, after the team let go of Rodgers in March this year.

Wilson, in a recent conversation with The Athletic, admitted that Fields had plenty to show the world and also hinted that the 26-year-old quarterback had way more potential than Rodgers. Garrett Wilson has been playing for the New York Jets since 2022 was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. In the 2024 NFL season, the wide receiver managed 101 receptions for 1,104 yards, scoring seven touchdowns for the team.

“I know exactly what he can do. Now the world’s gotta see it.” Garrett Wilson said to Zack Rosenblatt from The Athletic.

Garrett Wilson said he’d watch Justin Fields film when he was with the Bears thinking “I would’ve caught that.”

Said he thinks Fields is much better than people realize — and has felt that way since he was drafted, when he thought Fields should’ve went higher than he did.

Justin Fields will be playing for the first time with the New York Jets after the team signed the quarterback to a new contract for a sum of $40 million for a period of two years. In the previous NFL season, the Jets had Aaron Rodgers as their starting quarterback, who threw for a total of 3,897 yards, scoring 28 touchdowns, while managing 11 interceptions for the team. The team eventually let go of Rodgers after the season ended and replaced him with Justin Fields.

Fields has been playing in the NFL since 2021 when he was selected as the 11th pick in the very first round of the draft. The quarterback played for the Bears until 2023 and then moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers to play in the previous season.

Justin Fields And Jets To Open Season With Steelers

On another note, Justin Fields and the New York Jets will be opening their 2025 NFL season with a matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Before taking on Pittsburgh, the Jets will be stretching their muscles with three preseason games against the Green Bay Packers, the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Jets will surely hope to do much better when compared to their season last year. In the 2024 NFL season, the New York Jets finished third in the AFC East after winning five games and losing 12. The Jets played their final game of the season against the Miami Dolphins, losing with a final score of 32-20. With Fields as their starting quarterback in the next season, the Jets are showing potential to post a much better record.
