Travis Hunter’s father, Travis Hunter Sr., was recently denied a request for more freedom in his criminal sentence for gun and drug charges. Hunter Sr. was arrested in late 2023 for possessing a gun and drugs and he was eventually sentenced with a three-year probation. Recently, he was given permission by the court to attend the 2025 NFL draft, where Travis Hunter was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Travis Hunter Sr. was also a footballer, but never made it pro. He played football in high school and then managed to play semi-professional football. Hunter Sr. ‘s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, requested the court to grant him more freedom and less restriction so that he can “mentor” his son, who has been drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“I hear these circumstances have changed, you know, my hat’s off to his son. I don’t know that changes the father’s situation for me. In fact, it’s given me some concern that you’re almost arguing for special treatment.” Judge Howard Coates responded to Travis Hunter Sr.’s request through his lawyer.

Travis Hunter was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the second pick in the very first round of the 2025 NFL draft. Before being picked by the Jaguars, Hunter played college football for the Jackson State Tigers and the Colorado Buffaloes. In his senior year with the Buffaloes, Hunter managed a total of 96 receptions for 1,258 yards, scoring 15 touchdowns for the team.

While Travis Hunter’s father may not have had his request for more freedom granted, he has definitely been granted permission to attend his son’s wedding this weekend. Hunter will tie the knot with his long-time girlfriend, Leanna Lenee later this week in Tennessee.

Hunter and Lenee started dating in 2022 after being friends for quite some time. The newly drafted Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver/cornerback proposed to Lenee last year and will be getting married this weekend.
