The Ohio State Buckeyes are prepared to defend their national title. Ohio State will have a lot of questions entering the season despite winning it all last season.

They lost several players to the NFL and Ohio State will be able to reload just fine. The Buckeyes Week 1 matchup against the Texas Longhorns will be pivotal. It will be interesting to see who will also win the starting quarterback job for Ohio State come the 2025 college football season.
CBS Sports Lists Best Case Scenario For the Ohio State Buckeyes For the 2025 College Football Season

Tom Fornelli of cbssports.com listed one best case scenario and worst-case scenario for each BIG10 Conference team entering the 2025 college football season. He feels like the best-case scenario for them is going 12-0 during the regular season and that would also mean that Ohio State wins the BIG10 Conference as well. Fornelli said,
“None of the losses matter. Julian Sayin proves to be better than Will Howard, and Jeremiah Smith plays so well that Congress forces the NFL to get rid of its rule saying a player must be three years removed from high school before he’s draft-eligible. Matt Patricia’s defense is one of the best in the country, and he finds ways to make Caleb Downs look like even more of a superstar. After an upset win over Texas to open the season, the Buckeyes cruise through the schedule, proving to be far too much for Penn State and Michigan to handle. They earn the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.”
Texas, Penn State, and Michigan will be the three toughest games on the Buckeyes schedule in 2025. They will also face the Illinois Fighting Illini in 2025, and Illinois will be in contention to be a playoff team this season. Ohio State might have the two best players in the country in Smith and Downs. There will be major questions about the quarterback position.
Sayin is in line to win the Buckeyes job, but there will be questions about whether or not he could win the job. Ohio State has lost to Michigan four straight games and head coach Ryan Day is looking to end that streak during the 2025 college football season and also make noise once again in the postseason.
