Philadelphia Eagles fans have a Super Bowl to be excited about, but some are already thinking of the offseason.
Eagles fans aren’t the only ones with confusing priorities.
Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat, set to enter free agency in March, reportedly changed his sports agency representation on Monday to Drew Rosenhaus. Philadelphia’s leader in sacks from 2024 (8) could be on the move if no deal is made soon.
Myles Garrett requested a trade
On Monday, another pass rusher tried to put himself on the trade market. Myles Garrett requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns, per a statement:
“As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl — and that goal fuels me today more than ever,” Garrett wrote. “My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”
Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Browns have no plans to trade Garrett after the request.
Philadelphia Eagles fans think Garrett is coming
Despite the Browns planning to keep Garrett, Eagles fans took to social media on Monday afternoon convinced that the former No. 1 overall pick will come to Philadelphia as Sweat heads to free agency. Garrett did say he wanted to play for a Super Bowl contender.
“Garrett wants to be an Eagle so bad,” wrote a fan.
“Just making room for Myles,” posted another.
“Myles Garret come on down,” suggested a fan.
“Gonna miss Sweaty. But if he leaves that frees up more money for Myles Garrett whose dream is to play in the Super Bowl,” argued a poster.
“Sweaty is leaving. Welcome to Philly Myles Garrett,” wrote a fan.
“Sounds like we’re about to be down a DE. I know one who wants out Eagles. Go get us Garrett,” posted another.
