The Philadelphia Eagles are playing the Kanas City Chiefs on Sunday to mark their second appearance in the big game in three seasons. The Eagles will attempt to avenge their 38-35 loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII and stop their former head coach Andy Reid from completing a three-peat.
While the Eagles are preparing for the Chiefs in New Orleans this week, one key member on their roster has business on their mind.
Philadelphia Eagles could lose DE shortly
Per ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, defensive end Josh Sweat changed his representation on Monday to Drew Rosenhaus. The move comes a little more than a month before the star pass rusher is set to enter free agency.
With the Super Bowl on Sunday, and free agency looming next month, Eagles DE Josh Sweat changed agents today and hired Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha. “He clearly is one of the very top free agents,” Rosenhaus said. Sweat led the Eagles this season with eight sacks pic.twitter.com/QJswzQoVSm

Josh Sweat has been a key figure on the defense
At 27, Sweat has amassed 237 tackles 43 sacks, and seven forced fumbles in his seven-year NFL career. The six-foot-five, 265-pound athlete earned a Pro Bowl appearance for 2021 and recorded a career-high 11 sacks for the 2022 Eagles team that won the NFC championship.
Philadelphia drafted Sweat in the fourth round of the 2018 draft. The native of Chesapeake, Virginia, played college football at Florida State.
Sweat is signaling to the Eagles that he means business before free agency. Sunday’s Super Bowl appearance could be Sweat’s last with Philadelphia unless the two sides can reach a deal.
Sweat’s future with the Eagles isn’t the only one in question before Sunday’s game.
