The Denver Broncos added an emerging playmaker and deep threat to rookie quarterback Bo Nix’s arsenal after signing wide receiver Josh Reynolds in free agency.
Reynolds, 29, caught 40 passes for 608 yards while tying a career-high five touchdown receptions while seemingly finding a home in a crowded Detroit Lions receiving corps as one of quarterback Jared Goff’s favorite targets.
However, Reynolds is moving on, and says that there was a key reason he chose to sign with the Broncos this offseason.
“It was kind of a lot,” Reynolds said, via Jon Heath of USAToday.com. “I think the main decision was that I’ve always admired Sean Payton from afar. I was excited to see what that offense looked like.“
Reynolds will likely be a key piece in the Broncos replacing the production lost in Jerry Jeudy’s departure in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, and has caught 220 passes for 2,933 yards with 19 touchdowns through his first eight seasons with the Rams, Tennessee Titans and Lions.
For his part, he’s excited about the prospects of what the Broncos’ offense can develop into.
“I’ve seen a lot of football, been around a lot of football, and we’ve got a young receiver room,” Reynolds told reporters, via the team’s official website this spring. “To be able to kind of bring that, I think it can help a little bit.”
