Josh Allen’s receiving corps is going to look much different this season from the one that walked off the field following a Buffalo Bills playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last January.
After all, Stefon Diggs is now part of the Houston Texans’ electrifying triumvirate and Gabe Davis has the chance to become Trevor Lawrence’s favorite target with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Meanwhile, Mack Hollins and Keon Coleman arrive while tight end Dalton Kincaid may have the chance to rise up Allen’s target hierarchy when September and the regular season roll around.
Josh Allen Offers Scouting Reports of New Buffalo Bills Receivers
The Bills are always going to be in the mix in the AFC, despite the offseason of change in Buffalo and a vastly more competitive AFC East than the division has been in at least half a decade, but breaking in a new receiving corps could feature some growing pains.
During a recent appearance on “Up and Adams with Kay Adams” on FanDuel TV, Allen offered his thumbnail on his top new weapons.
“I don’t know if we really have a ‘one’ or a ‘two’ [receiver],” Allen said. “I think we’ve got a group of guys that are just finding ways to get open, and they’re doing their job, they understand their roles within each concept.
“Curtis Samuel is a guy who sticks out to me, using his speed, he’s kind of a gadget guy you can place him in the backfield. Mack Hollins, bringing the juice. Drafting a guy like Keon [Coleman] and guys that can go up and get the ball … A lot of guys are making plays all over the field right now.”
Allen aims to build on his 4,306-yard 2023 campaign this season and surpass 4,000 passing yards for the fourth consecutive time. If Allen can surpass that benchmark and lead the Bills on a postseason run despite such significant turnover in his receiving corps, it may just be his most impressive season to date.
