Former president Joe Biden was the topic of an exclusive interview of analyst Stephen A. Smith with CNN repoter Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, co-authors of the book “Original Sin.”
In one of the recent episodes of “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” the ESPN analyst interviewed the authors of the new book “Original Sin,” which exposed the alleged cover-up of the Democratic Party and the real condition of the then-President Joe Biden.
“We started writing the book before we even had a publisher and before we even had a proposal,” Tapper said during the interview. “We started reporting it and Alex and I were both very surprised to find out that so many people who had not been willing to talk candidly about Joe Biden after the election suddenly were. And we interviewed more than 200 people, almost all of them Democratic insiders, almost all of the interviews were after the election.
“And what this reporting revealed was that there were there were like two Joe Bidens,” he continued. “There was the one that presented fine, that was okay in the 2020 debates, that was okay day in day out, generally speaking, seemed old, but seemed like, okay, maybe he could do the job. And then there was the non-functioning Joe Biden, the one that just lost his way, lost his train of thought, couldn’t come up with names of top aides, had difficulty with dates, like even just like years.”

Joe Biden Trusted Advisor Sparks Controversy Among White House Staff
Former President Joe Biden‘s administration has faced internal tension, as revelations in a new book by CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios correspondent Alex Thompson exposed. The book, “Original Sin,” claimed that former First Lady Jill Biden’s senior advisor, Anthony Bernal, held significant influence within the White House, often prioritizing loyalty to the Biden family over broader governance.

Some staff members allegedly described Bernal as ruthless in maintaining allegiance, questioning colleagues about their dedication to the Bidens and dismissing those perceived as disloyal.

Bernal and another key advisor, Annie Tomasini, reportedly played critical roles in shaping the administration’s dynamics, even securing extensive access to the presidential residence. Their presence, according to the book, contributed to decision-making strategies that reinforced loyalty over policy considerations.
As the administration geared up for re-election, critics argued that the emphasis on family loyalty shaped strategic decisions, with Jill Biden playing a central role in sustaining Joe Biden’s political ambitions.
Even after a difficult debate performance in 2024, Bernal and the First Lady remained committed to the campaign’s continuation, highlighting the significance of their advisory positions. Ultimately, Joe Biden’s inner circle faced scrutiny over the extent to which personal relationships dictated the political trajectory of his presidency.
