On Wednesday evening, the Los Angeles Chargers took an important step to replace some offensive firepower they lost in March. The Chargers finished the 2023 season with Mike Williams, Keenan Allen, and Austin Ekeler on the roster.

By the end of March, new head coach Jim Harbaugh was preparing to start offseason workouts without any of them. The Chargers, faced with cap issues before free agency, released Williams, traded Allen, and let Ekeler walk in free agency. The Chargers offense will have to reload this season.

They added one piece to this with a week to go before the 2024 NFL Draft, and it’s a player Jim’s brother, John Harbaugh, used for his offense in Baltimore.

According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, the Chargers are set to sign former Ball Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins to a one-year deal. Dobbins will play under offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who coached Dobbins in Baltimore.

Former Ravens RB JK Dobbins plans to sign a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, per his agency LAA Sports. He now will reunite with his former Ravens OC Greg Roman in Los Angeles. https://t.co/p7N8DJDjO4

The Ravens drafted Dobbins in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Dobbins has rushed for 1,347 yards and 12 touchdowns in his first four seasons in the league.

Dobbins has played in 23 games and started in nine games. At 25, he has suffered several serious injuries in his career. He tore his ACL in the 2021 season, missed several games in the 2022 season due to a knee injury, and tore his Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 season.
