Jerry Jones was a little testy on Tuesday as the Dallas Cowboys are 3-3 entering their bye week. Jones went off on two radio hosts of 105.3 The Fan, threatening to have the hosts replaced for asking the Cowboys owner tough questions about the roster’s makeup for the 2024 season.
Jerry Jones was all-in this offseason…kinda
Jones was heavily criticized for the Cowboys’ quiet free agency period following his remarks that Dallas would be “all-in” for the 2024 season. Jones farted around with extending the contracts of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, which killed the Cowboys’ opportunity to free cap space to sign elite free agents.
The product on the field in Dallas has been as advertised by the scribes. The Cowboys were recently blown out 47-9 by the Detroit Lions. The talent discrepancy was on full display at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.
That is, to everyone but Jones.
The Dallas Cowboys aren’t buying at the trade deadline
Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Jones said he does not plan to make a trade before the Nov. 5 deadline or make coaching changes in the hopes that will make the team more competitive.
“As for the upcoming November 5th NFL trade deadline, Cowboys Jerry Jones says they will not be active,” Russini reported on X. “He also says they will not be making any changes at head coach or coordinators. He points to a lot of details that need to improve during practice.”

Frankly, it might not even make sense for the Cowboys to be buyers at the deadline. Dallas will play the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons before Nov. 5. A 3-5 record before facing the Houston Texans and Washington Commanders would look depressing to the locker room.
Jones clearly wants his coaching staff to take control of whatever troops are under their command. That could mean the Cowboys will look to hire a new general after the season, because Mike McCarthy and his staff don’t seem to have the answers.
