Dallas Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones got blasted by one NFL analyst recently in a podcast over the topic of the highly-criticized Amari Cooper trade, and urged him to make up for it with a reunion.
In his recent appearance on the “Up and Adams” podcast, NFL analyst RJ Ochoa got honest with Jerry Jones and urged the GM to have a reunion within the Cowboys.
“The name that everybody wants is Amari Cooper,” Ochoa said. “And if they were to do it, it would not only be awesome from a football standpoint, but I think this has been kind of a remodel, sort of offseason from an image standpoint for the front office. And if they were to bring Amari back, it would really suggest that they’re able to swallow some pride.”
Is an Amari Cooper reunion on the horizon with the Cowboys? 👀

The Dallas Cowboys’ trade for Amari Cooper was widely criticized by fans and analysts for several reasons. For a lot of fans, the Cowboys appeared to have overpaid, giving up a first-round pick to acquire Cooper from the Oakland Raiders, despite his inconsistency as a receiver.
Many believed Dallas could have secured a wide receiver in the draft or free agency without sacrificing such a valuable asset. Additionally, Cooper’s performance with the Cowboys was solid but not game-changing, leading many to question whether the trade truly justified the cost.

Another major issue was that the Cowboys failed to maximize Cooper’s value before trading him to the Cleveland Browns for only fifth- and sixth-round picks. This move was seen as a financial decision rather than a strategic one, as Dallas wanted to clear his $20 million salary from their books.
However, critics argued that the Cowboys could have restructured his contract instead of letting him go for minimal return. His absence was immediately felt, as Dallas struggled to maintain a strong passing attack without a true No. 1 receiver.
Jerry Jones Blasted For Broken Trade Promises
Dallas Cowboys GM Jerry Jones promised fans that the team was working on two substantive trades before or after the 2025 NFL Draft, sparking speculation about potential blockbuster deals. However, despite rumors linking the Cowboys to players like Courtland Sutton, George Pickens, and Tyreek Hill, no trades materialized, leaving fans and analysts frustrated.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio called out Jones for these “broken promises.”
“Fans and media have begun to wake up to the notion that Cowboys owner and G.M. Jerry Jones is more carnival barker than trophy chaser,” he wrote. “It’s not about winning, it’s about being interesting. And he always finds ways to be interesting.”

Jerry Jones has been the general manager of the Dallas Cowboys since 1989, which meant that he has held the role for 36 years as of 2025.
