Mike Florio Blasts Jerry Jones For His Failed Trade Promise With The Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was recently criticized for failing to keep up with his pre-draft promise. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio blasted Jones for his “substantive trades” comment. It’s been more than a week since the NFL draft was over, and Jones has not kept up to his word.
Previously, the owner mentioned that he was working on substantive trades that would take place before the draft. Florio called out Jones by saying it’s more than a week, and there has been nothing productive.
“Two days before the draft started, Jones grabbed the spotlight by claiming that he was working on ‘two pretty substantive trades’ that could happen ‘before or after the draft.’ One week and one day since the draft ended, we’re still waiting. It’s almost as if he never even said it,” Florio said.
Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys never had a huge offseason. They made some significant staff changes by promoting Brian Schottenheimer. However, their roster moves were pretty limited.
Dallas Cowboys Fans Call Out Jerry Jones For His Unsuccessful Offseason
Mike Florio is not the only person to blast Jones. Cowboys fans were unhappy with their offseason as they failed to see the promise come true. Several fans condemned the owner, saying that he was a carnival barker. Florio ensured to bring that to light as well as he continued to lash out at Jones.
“Fans and media have begun to wake up to the notion that Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones is more carnival barker than trophy chaser. It’s not about winning, it’s about being interesting. And he always finds ways to be interesting,” Florio continued.

It’s been a disappointing offseason for the Cowboys. They failed to make important roster moves, and things are not looking too good for the next season. However, things can change in time. Several other analysts condemned the franchise for its poor offseason.
One particular analyst named Mo Morton stated that the team was the biggest offseason loser in the NFL East. There’s plenty of things to fix on the team and there’s a lot of room for improvement. Jerry Jones doesn’t seem to be interested in moving things in the right direction for now.

The burden will be on the team and its players to carry things forward. At this rate, it’s hard to see the Dallas Cowboys make the playoffs in the 2025-26 NFL season.
