Penn State head coach James Franklin was visibly frustrated following another loss to No. 4 Ohio State on Saturday. The Nittany Lions dropped a 20-13 game in Happy Valley in a loss that will hurt their chances of making the College Football Playoffs.
Penn State took an early 10-0 lead in the first quarterback thanks to Ohio State quarterback Will Howard’s pick-six. The Nittany Lions would only muster a field goal in their next three quarters en route to a loss that had its fanbase asking for Franklin’s outser.
Penn State HC James Franklin questions a fan’s manhood

One heckler shouted something at Franklin as Penn State was headed into the locker room after the defeat. Franklin had a question for the fan, who appeared to be the age of a student.
“What’s your name,” Franklin asked. “If you’re going to be man enough to talk, what’s your name?”

Franklin has a 1-14 record against top-five teams

Saturday’s single-score defeat to Ohio State at Beaver Stadium will be an agonizing loss for Franklin, who now has a 1-14 record against teams ranked in the top five. Franklin has a 119-55 overall record as a college head coach. He’s 95-40 (60-33 in the Big Ten) at Penn State.
Franklin’s Nittany Lions had back-to-back seasons with ten wins or more in 2022-23.
Penn State has an outside chance to make the CFP after Saturday. The Nittany Lions will trail Indiana, Oregon, and Ohio State in the Big Ten rankings by one game. Penn State will finish its regular season with contests against Washington, Purdue, Minnesota, and Maryland.
