Some Cleveland Browns fans have a new perspective on their team following an embarrassing showing at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday afternoon. The Browns fell to the Chargers 27-10 on Sunday, dropping to an overall record of 2-7. Amid the loss, Cleveland is expected to trade defensive end Za’Darius Smith to the Detroit Lions.
Quarterback play had been an issue with the Browns offense from Week 1. Deshaun Watson went 137-of-216 passing for 1,148 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in 2024 before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury on Oct. 20.
Jameis Winston was awful in Sunday’s loss for the Cleveland Browns

Veteran quarterback Jameis Winston was named as Watson’s replacement in Week 8, leading the Browns to a 29-24 upset of the Baltimore Ravens. Winston threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns. Many fans who had called for Watson’s benching felt vindicated watching Winston defeat the Ravens.
However, Winston was awful against the Chargers defense on Sunday. Winston went 26-of-36 passing for one touchdown and three interceptions. The lone touchdown came in garbage time to make the score 27-10 with under a minute to play in the fourth quarter.
Deshaun Watson wasn’t the problem?

Following the game, fans on social media thought maybe they had been too harsh in blaming all of the Browns’ issues on Watson.
“Folks, maybe DeShaun Watson was the quarterback on the roster that gave the Browns the best chance at winning..The coach knew this all along,” one fan wrote.
“They swore Deshaun Watson was the problem in Cleveland,” joked one poster.
“Deshaun watson might not have been the problem,” suggested another.
“deshaun watson wasn’t the problem lol,” one person posted.
“ykw maybe deshaun watson wasn’t that bad,” posted another.
“It maybe wasn’t Deshaun Watson…,” wrote a fan.
