Jackson Mahomes, brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was going up against felony charges that came from February of 2023.
The charges, which have now been dropped, alleged that Mahomes grabbed a woman by the neck and kissed her against her will.
Mahomes was in court Wednesday, and the charges were officially dismissed after a Tuesday motion to dismiss three counts of aggravated sexual battery. The motion was filed by Johnson County Assistant District Attorney Megan Ahsens, according to the Associated Press.
The charges were reportedly dropped due to a lack of cooperation from the alleged victim. In an article from ESPN, Mahomes’ attorney, Brandan Davies, made a strong statement regarding his client’s innocence.
“[Jackson Mahomes] has done nothing wrong. We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed,” Davies said.
Mahomes still faces a fourth charge, misdemeanor battery, to which he has pleaded not guilty. The alleged victim of the main charges refused to testify, but the fourth charge remains because it allegedly involved the shoving of a waiter.
The original incident involving Patrick Mahomes’ brother, Jackson, took place just after the Super Bowl
The original incident took place in Overland Park, a suburb of Kansas City, in late February. The alleged assault took place just a few weeks after Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won their second Super Bowl since 2020.
Mahomes, who is a 23-year-old social media influencer, committed the alleged crimes at Aspen’s Restaurant and Lounge on Feb. 25. Mahomes allegedly shoved a waiter that tried to enter a room in which Mahomes was with the Aspen Vaughn, who owned Aspen’s Restaurant and Lounge.
After allegedly shoving the waiter out of the room that he and Vaughn were in, Mahomes allegedly grabbed Vaughn by the throat and forcefully kissed her on three separate occasions. The incident was allegedly caught on surveillance video.
Mahomes was Vaughn’s stepdaughter’s friend, and he had been told to leave the restaurant in the past after causing trouble, Vaughn told police.
Aspen’s Restaurant and Lounge closed before the NFL season started up again. Vaughn cited negative publicity as the reason for the shutdown. In an article from the Kansas City Star, Vaughn said she felt her safety was threatened.
“I feel like definitely, since it’s occurred, my safety is definitely at risk,” she told The Star. “I’m feeling attacked.by people I’ve never met. Why do victims not come forward? It’s because this is how they get treated.”
Jackson Mahomes, the brother of Patrick Mahomes, was already disliked by many NFL fans
Before allegations of misconduct were placed on Jackson Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs fans and NFL fans in general had become sick of his sideline antics.
Mahomes, and Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany, became an easy target at which fans could take aim. Patrick Mahomes has avoided off-field trouble, and fans were often looking for some aspect of his life to attack.
Jackson Mahomes, who was often seen making Tik-Tok videos at Patrick Mahomes’ games, became the subject of a lot of online hatred.

Fans around the league have even more hatred for Mahomes, and many of them are accusing him of foul play regarding the dismissal of the charges.

I wonder how much @PatrickMahomes paid to get little brother @jacksonmahomes out of trouble #payoff

While a payoff from Mahomes is in the realm of possibility, there is no proof for such an accusation. It is equally as likely that the alleged victim, Aspen Vaughn, would rather not incur an addition to the copious amounts of threats and violence she has already received. Vaughn already felt her life was in danger, and there is a chance she just does not find it worth it to exacerbate the issue by showing up in court.
There are no confirmed reports of either scenario, but the charges remain dismissed. The waiter involved in the fourth charge is the only thing standing between Mahomes and getting out of the case with no charges at all.

Wow, this is a huge development in the Mahomes family! It’s amazing to see Jackson’s charges dropped, and I’m sure this will bring a lot of relief to the whole family. Patrick has been carrying the team on his shoulders this season, and it’s great to see his brother’s ordeal come to a positive conclusion. Go Chiefs!
