The Penn State Nittany Lions finished with a 11-1 record during the college football regular season. Penn State reached the BIG10 championship game last season, but they lost to the Oregon Ducks.

The Nittany Lions made a run in the college football playoffs to the semifinals before they lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Penn State will be returning a lot of talent for the 2025 college football season. Head coach James Franklin and quarterback Drew Allar will be under a lot of pressure to win games in 2025.
CBS Sports Has Penn State Nittany Lions Ranked 2nd In BIG10 Conference For 2025 Season

Tom Fornelli of cbssports.com wrote about the BIG10 conference for the upcoming 2025 college football season. Fornelli ranked his teams from best to worst. To no surprise, he had the Ohio State Buckeyes at number one and then he had Penn State at number two.
The Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines have won it all in college football over the last two seasons. The Nittany Lions have a chance to get back to the BIG10 title game and potentially win it for the first time since 2016 when they beat the Wisconsin Badgers. Trace McSorley was the quarterback then and Saquon Barkley was the running back.
“They’re an extremely popular pick in the Big Ten this season because they’re following a similar blueprint to the ones Michigan and Ohio State used that led to a national title. Plenty of players who could’ve gone pro returned, so it’s a talented and experienced team. Drew Allar could prove to be the best quarterback in the league, too. Even if I’m taking a cautious approach on how good this team will be (I need to see them beat the league’s best before assuming they are the league’s best), I can’t justify ranking them lower than second right now. (+240)”
One of the teams that Penn State has struggled with is against the Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day. Once again, the BIG10 conference will be brutal. Allar might be the best quarterback in the BIG10 conference and if he plays at an elite level, they may not only just win the conference but also win it all in the college football playoffs.
