The Detroit Lions finished with a 15-2 record in the regular season in the NFL. Detroit was the number one seed in the NFC before they lost to the Washington Commanders in the NFC Divisional Round.

The Lions in the offseason lost offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. He is now the new head coach of the Chicago Bears. Detroit also lost defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. He is now the head coach of the New York Jets. Head coach Dan Campbell will look to have the same success without them. The NFL schedule is fully released on Wednesday. Who will they start the 2025 NFL season against?
Detroit Lions Expected To Open Season Against the Green Bay Packers

Detroit defeated the Green Bay Packers twice during the 2024 season. They have also won the last three of four games against them. It was reported,
“It appears the Lions will open in Green Bay. It will be the featured late afternoon kickoff.”
This will be a huge Week 1 battle in the NFC North. The Lions are led by quarterback Jared Goff and the Packers are led by quarterback Jordan Love. It will be interesting to see how Detroit’s offense will operate without Johnson as the offensive coordinator.
Green Bay was also a playoff team a season ago with a 11-6 record. The NFC North was one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. Detroit held off the Minnesota Vikings for the division title in 2024. The Lions need to get off to a good start in 2025 and send a message to the Packers that the NFC North still belongs to Detroit also.
