The Iowa football fans have had enough of quarterback Cade McNamara after the offense again struggled when the Troy Trojans visited.
Iowa averaged below 16 points per game last season, which was one of the lowest marks in all of college football. The Hawkeyes had quarterback Cade McNamara last season for a portion of their game before the starter went down with an injury, but still struggled with McNamara at the helm. Now, with the quarterback healthy and new offensive coordinator Tim Lester installed, the fans wants answers for why the offense still cannot score like the rest of the league.
Iowa Football Continues to Struggle Despite Healthy Cade McNamara, New OC
The Iowa football team has continued to struggle offensively this season despite a healthy quarterback and a new offensive coordinator. While the Hawkeyes staff expected quarterback Cade McNamara to take a step up while he was fully healthy, the quarterback has not been able to do so thus far. McNamara has just 350 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions through two games.
Perhaps the people who are most let down by the recent play of McNamara are his own Hawkeyes fans. The Hawkeyes have been busy on social media, asking for the quarterback to sit the bench and relinquish his starting spot. McNamara has not played up to the expectations the Iowa staff has had for him, but that may not result in his benching yet.
Cade McNamara cannot be the answer. There’s no way.

The Hawkeyes needed two terrible offensive seasons and a media circus surrounding both Brian and Kirk Ferentz before the firing of Brian. While Hawkeye fans want McNamara benched, the staff might not be as inclined to do so given his experience. The result of the Troy Trojans game will likely be pivotal in the decision making process regarding the starting spot McNamara currently holds.
Iowa Hawkeyes Football Fans Turn the Finger Towards McNamara
While to some McNamara might just be doing what his coordinator is telling him to do, the Hawkeyes fans are not convinced that the quarterback is the right man for the job. Some fans believe that McNamara has had plenty of time to find success yet still cannot do so despite a change of scenery and multiple staff changes. Some fans believe the changes to the staff overtime have affected the overall success of McNamara, however, most fans are not as accepting of that belief.
For the love of Christ put Cade McNamara third string on the bench, dude is awful. 6 years and you can’t see an open tight end in the end zone on third down?

The fall off of Cade McNamara during his transfer from Michigan to Iowa needs to be studied.

Other fans believe the issue behind the Iowa football struggles has been the play-style of McNamara. The quarterback is prone to taking the under route before trying to test the defense deep down the field. The Hawkeyes fans expected an air raid offense this season, much like Wisconsin Badgers fans expected for themselves, but have not received one yet.
