As the Green Bay Packers weigh whether quarterback Jordan Love is healthy enough to take the field in Week 2, after suffering ankle injury in a season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brasil, the Indianapolis Colts have ruled out a key defensive starter.

The Colts announced safety Julian Blackmon will be sidelined for Sunday’s game.
#Colts S Julian Blackmon (shoulder) is OUT for Sunday against the #Packers, per Indy HC Shane Steichen. K Matt Gay (hernia) will play.
WR Josh Downs (ankle), DT DeForest Buckner (back) and DE Kwity Paye (hamstring) are TBD.

The Colts, and head coach Shane Steichen, are optimistic at least that Blackmon’s injury isn’t something that will impact him in the long-term.
Blackmon logged 13 total tackles in the Colts’ Week 1 loss to the Houston Texans, and his absence against the Packers is bad news for an Indianapolis secondary now tasked with trying to slow the likes of Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubts, and Dontayvian Wix in Green Bay’s receiving corps, regardless of who winds up playing quarterback.

Meanwhile, the Packers on Friday officially listed Love as questionable for Sunday’s game, leaving some hope that he could make the start on Sunday.
